Mindfulness-based Communication Intervention for Children with Acquired Brain Injury

A huge congratulation to Marie-France Perrier (now a PhD candidate) for her successful comprehensive exam defence. Marie-France has now completed all required PhD courses and is completing her PhD proposal. She will be undertaking a scoping review of the literature along with a retrospective chart review and feasibility study at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario pertaining to cognitive-communication impairments after acquired brain injury.

A Mixed Methods Study for Oral Health in Stroke Patients

A huge congratulation to Nalia Gurgel-Juarez (PhD candidate) for her successful PhD proposal defence. Nalia has now completed all required PhD courses and elements except her dissertation. She has a highly supportive PhD committee who will greatly facilitate and eagerly contribute to the conduct of her study at Elisabeth Bruyère Hospital.

Poster Presentation on Oral Health Guidelines

Nalia Gurgel-Juarez (PhD candidate) presented a poster on a new protocol for a systematic review at the 2019 Canadian Stroke Congress. The systematic review will involve identifying and appraising existing guidelines for care of persons with acquired brain injury. A secondary objective is to appraise recommendations for oral care and health within the guidelines. Project collaborators include a diverse group of interprofessional researchers internationally.
